Nyl Restaurant And Bar

If you're strolling through Liverpool and happen to find yourself on N John Street, there’s one name that should pop into your mind when hunger (or a cocktail craving) strikes-Nyl Restaurant And Bar. Nestled right at 1 N John St, this is the kind of place that immediately sets a tone: classy, approachable, and effortlessly stylish. It's not just a restaurant-it’s an experience.

From the moment you step inside, the vibe feels curated but unpretentious. The lighting is warm, the seating spacious, and the energy in the room feels like a well-balanced mix of city buzz and comfort. Accessibility is also clearly a priority here, with wheelchair-friendly entrances, seating, and toilets, making it a welcoming space for everyone.

What truly defines Nyl Restaurant And Bar isn’t just its ambiance-it’s what comes out of the kitchen and behind the bar. Let’s start with the menu. If you're after the classics, their Fish and Chips delivers a crispy, golden batter that holds together flaky, tender fish, perfectly paired with chunky fries and a tangy tartar sauce. Prefer something a bit more indulgent? The Sirloin Steak arrives cooked to your exact preference, beautifully seared on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth juicy on the inside.

The chef’s creativity also shines through in more refined dishes like the Pan Seared Pigeon Breast or the show-stopping Duck Pak Choi with Pickled Rhubarb-a combo that surprises your palate in the best way. And if you're lucky enough to visit on special days like Mother’s Day, their Afternoon Tea experience adds an elegant touch with beautiful pastries, mini sandwiches, and a generous helping of charm.

But it’s not just about the food-Nyl takes its drinks game seriously. With a cocktail menu that rivals some of the best lounges in the city, you’d be missing out if you didn’t try their Passionfruit Martini-tart, sweet, and perfectly shaken. Or go for a Mojito, made with just the right balance of mint, lime, and a hint of rum heat. And if wine is more your thing, you're in excellent hands: the wine list here is impressively curated, spanning international classics and a few bold surprises.

There's also a lot to love about the everyday touches. Coffee lovers will appreciate the robust quality of their espresso and cappuccino offerings-none of that watered-down stuff here. If you lean toward dessert, prepare for temptation: from banana bread served warm to almond-chocolate-strawberry trios, each bite is a mini celebration. The dessert menu isn’t long, but every choice hits hard.

Nyl Restaurant And Bar also keeps things versatile. Whether you're dropping in for a solo breakfast, grabbing a light lunch, or settling in for dinner with a date or friends, the menu adapts. You’ll find healthy options, late-night food, and small plates for when you want to nibble while sipping on spirits or a crisp pint of beer.

The service? It strikes that perfect balance-attentive but not hovering, professional yet warm. They know their stuff, whether you're asking for a wine pairing or wondering about allergens in the teppanyaki-style prawns.

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill bar with food or a restaurant that serves drinks as an afterthought. Nyl Restaurant And Bar seamlessly blends both worlds, offering not just a place to eat or drink, but a destination where you can slow down, taste something new, or just enjoy a well-made cocktail while people-watching in style.

If you’re in Liverpool and you want more than just a meal-if you want an experience that hits all the senses-this is the place to be.

Nice bar with live music on Friday, restaurant experience was poor, the food wasn’t great to be honest. Come here to drink.

Restaurant clean and tidy and the food was good, but for £25 a steak, it should be! Staff took far too long to bring our food over,45 minutes to be honest and the service was standard. Worst part of this experience was the extra charges they tried to put on the bill, £8.00 they had to refund us back.

Thank you to David, Lucy and the team who ensured my pals and I felt incredibly welcome and taken care of when we visited NYL on Saturday. The service and cocktails were both excellent and all set in a lovely spacious, covid-safe building - couldn't have asked for anything more!
